Drinking Water Testing

Public Act 00-0922

A law was signed by the Governor in 2017, which established lead testing requirements and protocols for all water sources used for cooking and drinking within some schools and day care facilitates as well as requirements for water providers to compile a lead materials inventory and provide notification during water distribution work.   In the fall of 2017, Rhodes School had the water tested at all of its drinking fountains, the kitchen sinks used for food preparation, and the classroom sinks for the lower grade levels (as identified in the state law).  None of these tested water sources exceeded the state’s maximum threshold of 5 parts per billion (ppb), which means the school building’s drinking water is within compliance of the state’s standards.
