What is Class Dojo?

ClassDojo is a school communication platform that teachers, students, and families use every day to build close-knit communities by sharing what is being learned in the classroom home through photos, videos, and messages.

Rationale for acknowledging students for engaging in behavior expectations:

To learn, students require regular and frequent feedback on their actions students experience frequent feedback from others, themselves, and their environment. Without formal feedback to encourage desired behavior, other forms of feedback shape undesired behaviors. When using ClassDojo students will be receiving communication about both their positive behaviors. This will help them to better monitor their own behavior.

How class Dojo Points work:

Students will earn dojo points based on the positive behaviors that are seen in the classroom and in the school. For example: helping others, and walking quietly in the hallway. Homeroom teachers will allot points via classdojo. Teachers can award non-roster students points via email to homeroom teacher.

How class points will be used:

  • 1 Dojo point = 1 Dojo Dollar

  • At the end of each week, each student’s dojo points will be converted into dollars by the homeroom teacher. Students will be responsible for keeping their dollars. After dollars are distributed, the homeroom teacher will reset dojo points each week.

  • Students will use their Dojo Dollars at the Rhodes Store.

What they're for:

  • Rewarding students for spontaneous acts of kindness that align with Universal Expectations. – ex. Juan, thanks for respecting others in the classroom by helping George clean up his spot. Great job being responsible!

  • Rewarding students for going above and beyond basic behavior expectations – Marcos, thank you for respecting others by holding the door open for me!

  • Rewarding students for extraordinary educational effort or achievement – Maria, you put forth your best effort on the Unit Test. Thanks for respecting your learning!
