7th & 8th Grade
Seventh Grade
The 7th grade curriculum takes an integrated approach to learning in all subject areas. The team strives to teach many of their objectives through thematic units. Science focuses on the core concepts of the Next Generation Science Standards. Social Studies is taught with an emphasis on American History up to the Civil War. Reading explores various genres and types of texts through the application of Signposts. Language Arts utilizes the writing process to develop all genres of writing with a large focus on research-based writing. Some of the features of 7th grade include:

Students are provided instruction in reading, writing, social studies, science, math, physical education, and language arts. Elective courses include band, chorus, Spanish, STEM, music, and art.
Additionally, students can be pulled from a class in order to receive specialized services. We have both a Title One Teacher and Speech Therapist to assist students as needed. There are two resource teachers who provide special education, and one teacher who provides support for English Language Learners.
7th Grade offers the following opportunities for Enrichment: Enrichment Reading and Enrichment Math.

Eighth Grade
The 8th grade curriculum takes a multidisciplinary approach to learning in all subject areas. The team strives to teach many of their objectives by making connections to real world contexts. Science focuses on the core concepts of the Next Generation Science Standards. Social Studies is taught from the Reconstruction Era through the Holocaust.
There is also attention given to civic engagement and tolerance. Reading utilizes Signpost instruction with a large emphasis on word mapping for vocabulary development. Language Arts teaches writing concepts through inquiry, research, and writing workshop. Some of the features of 8th grade include:
